Ofsted Report 2025
I am delighted to inform you that following our most recent full Ofsted inspection in May 2025, Eastlea Community School in Newham East London has been graded ‘Good’ in all areas. This is a reflection of the continued improvement and hard work from staff, students, governors and the wider school community.
The inspectors recognised that Eastlea is a safe, kind and welcoming school, with “equality, respect, and tolerance at the heart of the school’s values.” They noted that pupils feel happy, behave well, and are proud to be part of a diverse and inclusive community. The positive atmosphere around the school was evident throughout the inspection.
Ofsted 2025 acknowledged that the school is ambitious for all pupils, and praised the work of staff in ensuring that “all pupils gain the knowledge and skills that they need to thrive in their future lives.” They also highlighted the many improvements that have been made since the last inspection, including the strengthening of the curriculum. As a result, pupils benefit from a good quality of education and achieve well.
The report also highlights the broad and inclusive range of opportunities available to pupils beyond the classroom – from leadership roles and educational visits to careers education and personal development programmes. The school’s approach to behaviour has led to calm classrooms and corridors, and inspectors noted the positive and respectful relationships between staff and students. We will continue to build on these strengths to ensure our students receive the highest quality education and secondary school experience in East London.
For parents and carers looking for a Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Newham, this outcome confirms that Eastlea provides:
-
High standards of teaching and learning
-
A safe, inclusive environment
-
Strong pastoral support
-
Wide-ranging enrichment opportunities
We are proud that inspectors highlighted the positive atmosphere across the school and the commitment of staff to raising aspirations for all students.
Finally, I would like to thank the staff, governors and students who were involved in the inspection and who continue to make our school such a “safe, kind, and welcoming” community and one which we are all extremely proud of. I would also like to thank all of the parents who support the school so positively, and in doing so, enable us to continue to provide the very best for all our children.
