Admissions
Welcome to Eastlea
Eastlea Community School is a mixed community school. Our aim is for all students, regardless of their starting point, to achieve their full potential in their academic outcomes as well as their personal development. We ensure that all students are academically challenged in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. We are dedicated to the safety and well-being of every child in our care and this is reflected in our re-organised pastoral system. Our dedicated staff work together to ensure that our students are provided with opportunities to achieve both academically and to flourish as part of a wider school community. Our aim is that our students are given the chance to discover lifelong interests as well as a love of learning. We believe that this school has much to offer your child and we look forward to working with you to support your child through their time at Eastlea.
Our school is part of Newham Community Learning, a local Trust of six schools. As the admissions authority, the Trust Board has adopted the Local Authority’s admissions arrangements, which means that all applications must be submitted via the borough’s process. If you live in Newham, you apply via LB Newham Pupil Services. If you live outside Newham and you want your child to attend this school, you need to apply via your home borough naming this school as a preference on your application.

In year admissions into secondary school
(also known as a mid-term or mid-phase admissions)
Mid Phase Admissions are students who join school outside the normal admission times, so after the first half term of Year 7 through to Year 11. We are aware that students joining Eastlea mid-phase are doing so for a variety of reasons, some of which may be upsetting and difficult for them. At Eastlea we support all students and offer packages to meet their individual needs, whether emotional, learning or behavioural.
If your family arrives in Newham and your child needs a school place, you must complete an In Year application form naming your preferred school(s). The Newham School Finder is a useful tool for determining the location of schools and for calculating home-to-school distances. The Starting Secondary School guide provides a useful overview of Newham’s secondary schools.
School places are usually offered within 10 days. Please note that you may not be offered the school of your choice, if there are no vacancies at that school. Click here for information on waiting lists.
Please click in the white space below to review our video which provides and overview of how we support students joining us in-year.
