Welcome to Eastlea

Eastlea Community School is a co-educational secondary school in Newham, East London, serving families across the local community. Our aim is for all students, regardless of their starting point, to achieve their full potential in both academic outcomes and personal development.

We ensure every child is challenged in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. The well-being of students is central to our ethos, reflected in our strong pastoral system. Our dedicated staff provide outstanding teaching and enrichment so that students not only succeed academically but also flourish as part of a wider Newham school community.

We believe Eastlea has much to offer your child, and we look forward to working with you as they begin their secondary school journey in East London.

Applying for a Secondary School Place in Newham

Eastlea Community School is part of Newham Community Learning Trust. The Trust Board has adopted the Local Authority’s admissions arrangements, which means that all applications must be submitted via the London Borough of Newham’s process. If you are applying for a Year 7 secondary school place in Newham, you must apply by the deadline via eAdmissions. Families can also attend our open days and open evenings to learn more about our school.

  • If you live in Newham → Apply via LB Newham Pupil Services.

  • If you live outside Newham → Apply through your home borough and name Eastlea Community School as a preference.

Moving to a secondary school in Newham – September 2026 admissions

National Closing date – on time year 7 applications: Friday 31 October 2025 at 23:59

National offer date – on time year 7 applicants: Monday 02 March 2026

eAdmissions – parents and carers can apply for a year 7 place for September 2026 through the eAdmissions website.  Guidance regarding setting up an account is available in this slide deck.

London coordinated admissions scheme (operated by all 33 London boroughs) – details available on this page of the borough’s website.

Parents and carers can visit our school during the open evening and open morning events in the new academic year.

In year admissions into secondary school

(also known as a mid-term or mid-phase admissions)

Mid Phase Admissions are students who join school outside the normal admission times, so after the first half term of Year 7 through to Year 11.

For families moving mid-year, we also accept in-year school admissions in Newham. We understand that changing schools can be a challenge, and our pastoral team provides personalised support for a smooth transition.

If your family arrives in Newham and your child needs a school place, you must complete an In Year application form naming your preferred school(s). The Newham School Finder is a useful tool for determining the location of schools and for calculating home-to-school distances. The Starting Secondary School guide provides a useful overview of Newham’s secondary schools.

School places are usually offered within 10 days. Please note that you may not be offered the school of your choice, if there are no vacancies at that school. Click here for information on waiting lists.

Determined Admission Arrangements in Newham – for entry in September 2026

These were agreed by Newham Council in February 2025, and adopted by the Trust Board of Newham Community Learning, which is our school’s admissions authority, at the trustees’ meeting of 03 April 2025.

Details of the process for applying for places for secondary school in Newham for September 2026 entry will be published when available; this is typically in early September of the previous year – ie. September 2025.  This page will be updated as soon as the information is available.
