Ofsted
Ofsted Report 2023
I am delighted to inform you that at our most recent full inspection, Ofsted recognised the school as improving, moving the school up a grade to ‘requires improvement’ overall. We are pleased that Inspectors recognised the progress that has been made in general but also specifically in two areas: ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’ and ‘Personal Development’ which were both graded ‘Good’.
The report itself highlights the many elements of good provision at Eastlea as well as the next steps needed to take the school forward, many of which were already underway and part of our school development plan.
The full inspection report recognises the strong sense of community that is evident at Eastlea along with many other aspects such as our pupils’ good behaviour; attendance, the well-established careers education and; the range of different clubs, visits and experiences that we make available to our pupils. Ofsted inspectors also recognised the considerable work that is undertaken by leaders to ensure that young people are safe and know how to keep themselves safe.
I am pleased that Ofsted recognised the journey of improvements that have been made at the school over the last three years and we acknowledge those areas that require continued focus. Inspectors recognised that in some areas there are relatively new staff and leaders who have not yet had the opportunity to embed the changes they have introduced. We are confident, however, that as part of the school’s continued focus and ambition these areas will continue to improve and shortly be categorised as at least ‘good’.
Finally, I would like to thank the staff, governors and students who were involved in the inspection and who continue to make our school a positive community. I would also like to thank all of the parents who have supported the school during this period. We, of course, continue to address any areas for improvement.
