Mental Health and Wellbeing
Place2Be
All students at Eastlea Community School can access a fully trained counsellor through our partnership with Place2Be. The school counsellor is on site Monday-Wednesday. Students can self-refer or can be referred by a member of staff. For more information regarding Place2Be please click here.
WINS (Wellbeing in Newham Schools)
Some students may need targeted support. Eastlea Community School works with WINS which is part of Newham’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. The focus is on students with early signs of anxiety or low mood. An approach known as ‘guided self-help’ is used to help young people to understand and address these signs. This happens in 8 weekly sessions. WINS requires parental consent before any 1:1 work with 11-16 year olds. The practitioner will meet with parents/carers to explain the work and discuss how they can support it.
CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)
Some students may require specialist support. The school can make referrals directly to CAMHS. Students and parents who feel they need a referral should first contact a member of the Safeguarding Team, the SENCo or their own GP. CAMHS requires parental consent for referrals for children under the age of 16 More information about CAMHS can be found here.
